🥣 The Best Homemade Granola... That’s Anything But Basic!

If you’re a granola lover... welcome, friend, you’re in the right place! Today I’m sharing my go-to granola recipe. It may be simple, but don’t let that fool you... it’s truly the best. And I don’t say that lightly! With over 200 five-star reviews and a permanent spot in my kitchen rotation, this granola has earned its title.

This crunchy, golden goodness makes the perfect snack or breakfast. Just add your favorite milk and maybe some fresh fruit for a quick, nourishing meal. It also stores beautifully, which makes it a thoughtful (and delicious) homemade gift.

What sets this granola apart? It’s made with wholesome ingredients... think whole grains, oil, and natural sweeteners... and has zero of the additives you find in many store-bought versions. Once you try it, you’ll never go back to the bagged stuff!

The best part? It’s super easy to make... I wish I had known this was this easy YEARS ago! Just one bowl, a baking sheet, and a few pantry staples... that’s it. So grab your oats, and let’s get baking! 🌟

🌾 To Make It Gluten-Free:

Just make sure you're using certified gluten-free oats to keep your granola safe for those with gluten sensitivities or allergies.

🥜 Need a Nut-Free Version?

No problem! Swap any of the nuts for seeds like pepitas (shelled pumpkin seeds) or sunflower seed kernels just as crunchy, just as delicious.

🥥 Want to Add Toasted Coconut?

Yes, please! Stir in sweetened or unsweetened coconut flakes halfway through baking to get them perfectly golden and toasty without burning.

🍽️ How to Enjoy It:

This granola is super versatile! Here are some of our favorite ways to dig in:

  • Enjoy it by the handful as a snack 🌟

  • Serve it with milk for a crunchy breakfast cereal

  • Top it over yogurt and fresh fruit with a drizzle of honey 🍓

  • Sprinkle it on salads for a fun twist — hello, granola “croutons”! 🥗

Deliciously Easy Granola

Servings – 16 Prep Time10 Minutes Cook Time: 25 Minutes

Chill Time: 1 Hour

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

  • 1 1/2 cup raw nuts and/or seeds of choice, I used a mix of walnuts, almonds, and sunflower kernels

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup pure honey

  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup dried fruits of choice, I used dried apricots, and cranberries

Optional additional mix-ins: 1/2 cup chocolate chips and or or coconut flakes*

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper this makes cleanup a breeze!

In a big mixing bowl, combine your oats, brown sugar, nuts, seeds, salt, and cinnamon. Give it a quick stir to mix. 🥜🌻

Pour in the oil, maple syrup, honey, and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is well-coated and glossy. Every oat and nut should be lightly covered in all that sweet goodness. 🍁🍯

Spread the mixture evenly onto your prepared baking sheet. Use a large spoon or spatula to press it into a single layer.

Bake for 21–24 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even toasting.

*At this point add in your coconut flakes if using. Sprinkle over granola and stir in to combine.

💡 CWT Pro Tip: If you love chunky granola, press it down firmly after stirring before finishing the bake. This helps form those dreamy clusters we all love.

Remove from the oven once the granola is lightly golden. Let it cool completely on the pan... don’t touch it! It crisps up as it cools (and smells amazing while it does).

Once it’s fully cooled, sprinkle in your add-ins like dried fruit or chocolate chips. Gently 🍒🥭🍫

Notes:

Storage -

Keep it in an airtight container at room temp for 1–2 weeks

Or pop it in a sealed freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months (just let it thaw for 5–10 minutes before serving if there’s fruit... no one likes frozen raisins 🧊😉

Whether you're gifting it, snacking on it, or building the ultimate breakfast bowl, this homemade granola is a simple, satisfying recipe you’ll turn to again and again.

P.S. Add your own twist with spices, nut butters, or seasonal mix-ins... the possibilities are endless!
