Sugar Cookie Magic Bars

Servings – 12 Prep Time5 Minutes + first cook time 20 Minutes

Cook Time - 20 + 30 Minutes

Chill Time - 2 Hours

Ingredients:

  • 1 pouch sugar cookie mix such as Betty Crocker™

  • 3 tablespoons flour

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened or melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts nuts, optional - you can also use pecans or sliced almonds

Optional add-ins:

  • Mini M&M's®

  • Butterscotch chips

  • Toffee bits / Chopped Heath Bar

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 13×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or generously coat it with cooking spray.

In a large bowl, combine the cookie mix, melted butter, vanilla and egg, stirring until a soft dough comes together. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the edges turn lightly golden.

Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips, coconut, and chopped nuts over the crust.

Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the warm crust and toppings. Gently press the toppings into the mixture with a fork.

Return the pan to the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are golden and the top is set.

Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing. This helps ensure clean cuts, and setting of the crust.

Place in individual cupcake liners for easy serving. This is totally optional. Store bars in an airtight container.

Notes:

Magic bars are easy to personalize. Swap nuts for peanut butter chips, or add mini marshmallows, peppermint bits, mint or white chocolate chips, or even dried fruit to create your own flavor combination. ✨
